GLREA Committees

Education Committee
The Education Committee plans and helps implement a variety of educational activities to inform Michigan residents and businesses about renewable energy. These statewide activities include events, newsletters, social media, and presentations on zoom.
The Education Committee meets monthly on the second Thursday of the month at 12:00 noon. Please contact John Sarver if interested in joining the committee. We welcome GLREA Members to join us,
MPSC - Policy Committee
The Policy Committee meets once a week to plan our strategy and actions, and review our progress in two areas: Michigan Legislation and Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) cases and workgroups.

We track energy-related bills as they progress through the legislative process, and provide members with online tools to write to their representatives and House/Senate committee members to express their opinions. On occasion we meet with legislators directly to educate them on the impact of potential energy legislation.

As a non-profit that has electric utility rate paying members, we are an active intervenor in electric utility cases. With the assistance of counsel, we submit discovery questions, testimony, rebuttal and briefs in electric utility rate cases, green power cases, and integrated resource plan cases. We also participate in critical MPSC workgroups that help to formulate commission positions before the issue gets to an official case.
Meets Weekly on Tuesday’s at 11am. Please contact John Richter if interested in joining the committee. We welcome GLREA Members to join us.
